Afroze Shaikh, MA, NCC; Therapist

Afroze completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Afroze has worked in various settings including a college counseling center and inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. She has experience working with adults and families in managing anxiety, depression, suicide, the impact of community violence, and addictions.

Afroze is currently working on her doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Practice at Georgia State University, with research interests including suicide prevention, substance use, and crisis intervention.

In counseling, Afroze appreciates a humanistic, person-centered approach in which the counselor and client work collaboratively to create realistic and attainable goals that uphold the clients’ values. As the counselor, she aims to create a nonjudgmental, welcoming environment to allow clients to express themselves authentically and gain increased awareness to lend toward growth.
